Part 1: Artist Statement & Bio
Tuesday, June 12, 7pm-9pm

The Artist Statement is one of the most important documents that an artist creates, but it is also one of the most difficult documents to write and is often confused with the artist bio. In this workshop you will learn why your statement and bio are so important and what makes a strong artist statement and bio. You will have the opportunity to workshop your statements and bios with other workshop participants.

Part 2: Artist Resume and CV
Tuesday, June 26, 7pm-9pm

You send your resume or CV out to a lot of people. The artist resume is different from most traditional resumes. Learn strategies for organizing your information, including what to include or not include.

Part 3: Artist Website
Tuesday, July 10, 7pm-9pm

The artist website is an important part of your online presence, but it is often neglected. Learn what makes a strong artist website that is easy for people to find and navigate. Even if you don’t currently have a website, this workshop will help you know what to do when it’s time to create your own.

Part 4: Marketing Yourself and Your Artwork
Tuesday, July 24, 7pm-9pm

This workshop will cover a number of topics from business cards to social media. Come ready to learn tips and strategies that you can add to your marketing toolkit.

Part 5: Proposals
Tuesday, August 7, 7pm-9pm

Learn how to create a strong proposal for grants and exhibitions. Your proposal will generally include your artist statement, bio, and resume or CV, a portfolio, and a statement of intent. We will briefly review the items needed and will talk about what reviewers look for in proposals. Bring a copy of what you’re working on for an opportunity to get feedback and workshop your ideas with other participants.

About the Presenters

Erica Popp and John Q. Do are the owners and curators of Erica Popp Studios + Gallery.

Erica Popp is a professional artist, curator, and writer. She has taught writing, photography, and art history at the college level. Her work has been shown nationally in solo and group exhibitions.

John Q. Do is a user experience designer, web designer and graphic designer. He has worked in advertising and marketing at agencies and in-house.
